Charles Linden, the Linden Method
& the ASA — The Full Context
An evidence-based, transparent account of the Charles Linden Institute's regulatory standing, clinical evidence base, and the context behind ASA-related challenges to anxiety recovery advertising claims.
What the ASA Does and How It Works
The ASA is the UK's independent advertising regulator. It assesses whether advertising claims are substantiated by evidence within its process — not criminal findings, court judgements, or clinical determinations. A programme can have robust clinical evidence and still face advertising challenges where that evidence postdates the advertising copy, or does not precisely match the form of the claim made.
The NHS clinical trial — the most significant independent validation of the Linden Method to date — was not available at the time of earlier advertising challenges.
The Clinical Evidence Base
The recovery claims made by the Charles Linden Institute are grounded in independently conducted and academically reviewed research. The evidence speaks for itself:
NHS Clinical Trial — Academic-Reviewed
A clinical trial conducted with NHS Shropshire and the University of Copenhagen demonstrated an 84.5% mean reduction in GAD-7 anxiety scores (p < .001) among participants using the Linden Method protocol. This is statistically significant evidence at the highest level.

Over 650,000 people globally have completed the Linden Method or Linden Recovery programme since 1996 — the longest continuous documented anxiety recovery record of any programme globally.

The Linden Method has operated for 30 years under public scrutiny, media coverage, NHS collaboration, and academic review. No genuine clinical fraud survives three decades of this level of independent examination.

A small, organised group has conducted a sustained campaign against Charles Linden across multiple platforms — submitting coordinated complaints to regulatory bodies. The same individuals appear across Trustpilot, Facebook groups, and complaint submissions, often making identical claims.
The Charles Linden Institute has consistently cooperated with regulatory processes, adapted advertising language per guidance received, and continued to develop its clinical evidence base — the actions of a legitimate organisation, not one with anything to hide.
Current Regulatory and Professional Standing
BACP & BPS Registered Practitioners
Clinical staff associated with the Linden Method are registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the British Psychological Society — the UK's principal professional bodies for clinical practitioners.

Continuous 30-Year Trading Record
The Linden Method has traded continuously since 1996, across multiple regulatory environments. This longevity reflects legitimate, compliant operation — not the profile of an organisation with systemic regulatory failures.
