Anxiety in elite sport. The numbers are stark.

Why standard interventions fail. Why TRT doesn't.
Every conventional anxiety intervention — including CBT, medication, mindfulness, and counselling — has the same fundamental flaw: it treats the symptoms, not the cause. Anxiety disorders are caused by a chronically over-sensitised amygdala. Until that is recalibrated, the disorder persists.
What athletes are offered — and why it doesn't work
Rewires thought patterns around anxiety but leaves the amygdala's threat baseline completely untouched. The disorder returns the moment an athlete stops applying the techniques — which is precisely when they are under competitive pressure.
Suppresses emotional responsiveness system-wide. No neurological resolution. Athletes face blunted reaction time, impaired competitive edge, and full withdrawal effects on cessation. Not a performance-compatible solution.
Reduces perceived stress temporarily but provides no physiological pathway to recalibrate the amygdala. Optimising performance on an anxious nervous system is like upgrading the tyres on a car with a broken engine.
Helps athletes process and understand the origin of their anxiety. Does not rewire the amygdala. Athletes finish therapy with better insight into a disorder they still have.
The TRT difference — neurological resolution
Anxiety disorders are caused by a chronically over-sensitised amygdala. Every intervention that ignores the amygdala cannot produce permanent recovery.
Directly targets the amygdala
TRT delivers the specific behavioural and cognitive inputs that neuroplasticity research confirms will lower the amygdala's threat baseline permanently — not temporarily.
Resolution, not management
Once recalibrated, the anxiety disorder is gone. No ongoing sessions, no technique dependence, no relapse under competitive pressure.
Tested by the NHS and Capita
Independent assessment by the NHS and Capita rated TRT the most effective anxiety intervention by far — across every other approach available at the time.
TRT is the only approach that treats the cause. Every other intervention treats the symptoms.
Recovery in their own words.
This method is the way forward. Science-based, factual, and it just works.
